Amara — Travel Inquiry Voice Agent

Amara supports a travel agency by answering after an intentional three ring delay, holding a brief reassuring conversation, identifying the caller’s travel need, collecting approved trip details, and preparing a structured handoff for a human travel advisor.

Business challenge

Missed calls can become missed opportunities, but callers may not want a long AI interaction. The goal was to improve responsiveness and information capture while keeping the human travel advisor central.

02

Design response

The experience waits through an intentional three ring delay before answering, then clearly introduces Amara as an AI assistant. It asks only minimal approved questions, clarifies when a caller’s answer needs context, and returns the organized inquiry to a human advisor quickly.

Conversation Architecture

Designed to listen, clarify, and return to a person.

Amara is not a rigid script. The central conversation can clarify and adapt within approved boundaries before it prepares the handoff.

Human Oversight and Safeguards

A support system, not a substitute.

Amara supports responsiveness and organization but does not replace professional judgment. Approved knowledge limits what the system can say. Escalation rules return sensitive, uncertain, or decision based moments to a person, while human review keeps the final travel guidance, commitments, and service relationship with the advisor.

What I Learned

Callers need quick reassurance, fewer questions, and a clear path back to a person. That principle shaped the conversation design and remains a design lesson, not a performance claim.
